10,000 BC - Movie Review

10000 bc movie poster

A young hunter must journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe.

TRUE DUDES REVIEW:

There are so many things wrong with this movie, I almost don’t know where to begin. Saying that this film is historically inaccurate is like saying Donald Trump is well off. I could write a fucking series of educational articles on the inaccuracies of 10,000 BC. But that too would suck, so lets just say this movie is pretty fucking ridiculous. Cavemen speaking english aside, the acting is also terrible. Horrible actors spouting awful dialogue wosen an already shitty film. I was hoping that at least the special effects would be the one thing in the film that I could praise, but it just ain’t so. The creature effects were cartoonish and over done. I was actually embarrassed to watch the actors try to react to the beasts. Finally, with a run time of only one hour and forty-nine minutes, I barely made it through this entire mess. The action scenes were few and far between and never impressive.

I kid you not people, this movie fucking blows and this is coming from someone who actually enjoyed The Day After Tomorrow. Save your time and money. Stay home and watch the Gieco Caveman commercials, they are way more entertaining.

Well keep in mind it is from the guy who did Independence Day, the Day after Tomorrow, The Patriot, and Stargate, not exactly history channel documentaries. Also, them speaking english, your point? Face it Hollywood is a buisness, buisnesses need to make money, people speaking foreign languages on film doesn’t fair well at the box office alot. (I like foregin films, I am just saying that they usually don’t do well.) Also, how did you see this, it comes out tommorow 3/7/08

FIXED MY SPELLING ERRORS, GOD I HATE BEING TIRED

    sneak preview john.

Also my point about english was that it was not yet invented.

  • John

I can see your point, but I am telling you that

    A) If they made it english it would do better at the box office.

    B) English wasn’t invented, but what was there language back then?

  • Adam True

Apacalytpo made money and that was a good movie.

  • john

While that is true, think of how many films with foregin languages spoken have died at the US box office. Most don’t even bother releasing them in the US

    John,

Were you somehow involved with this terrible movie? You’re defending it like you were.

  • john

No, I am just a Roland Emmerich fan and the only reason I am defending it is just because that seems to be your reason that you hate it.

You liked 300 right? Well, were was the historical accuracy on that one? Why were they speaking english?

P.s. I came back from seeing it, and it wasn’t Roland Emmerich’s best, nor worst

    a 2.5/5

  • Adam True

300 was based on a comic book/graphic novel its doesn’t need historical accuracy. Yet, some of that movie is accurate, just embelished

  • john

So what if it’s based on something? Then let’s all scream about the graphic novel not being historically accurate?

Also, 300 embellished just as much as 10,000 BC with the language, the Spartans spoke just as good of English as the hunters. At least in 10,000 BC the enemies spoke a foreign language. As for the advanced society, that was just like ancient Egypt, so don’t even start.

    Also, here’s my review

    10,000 B.C.

A prehistoric epic that follows a young mammoth hunter’s journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe

Let me start off by saying that yes, this film throws history out the window. With that said, where were these people when they were reviewing 300, or any other caveman movie for that matter? Face it, Hollywood is a buisness, and busineses need to make money, moviees with foreign languages usually get trampled in the box office, therefore with english language = more money.

Now that I have said that, let me comment on the quality of the movie. First off, the script, there was some good dialouge, some just felt like they were trying to be too poetic. The screenwriters also wrote what I am now deeming the ‘Golden Compass’ effect, they would try to make you say “oh crap, he’s gunna kill her, he’s lifting his hand, jeez this taking a long time,” then BAM a spear goes through them. Also regarding the people’s death, I felt like they weren’t spread out enough, in the end we see at least 5 main characters die, much like ‘The Patriot.’

Now for this movies bread and butter, the CGI, it was probably Mr. Emmerich’s best, you can record me by saying that at the Oscars it will come down to this, and the upcoming Iron Man for the win. Although, I must say that there wasn’t nearly enough of the animals as I would have liked, they give up most of it in the trailer.

As my second favorite man (in a hetro way) Roland Emmerich’s direction, it was poor. He liked to use what I call the ‘Rambo’ effect, it cut off alot in the action scenes, so all I knew was that birds were coming and alot of screams. As for the camera movement, it was okay, like the rest of the movie, some good, some bad.

The acting in this movie played the cards they were given, sadly. Nothing stood out as good or bad. Even their characters were bad, for as important as Evolet’s backstory was, we were given none. We saw her for maybe five minutes when her and D’Leh were about twelve.

Rating: 2.5/5 Not enough to recommend it, but I had fun seeing it.

The fact that you think this will be nominated for any award, let alone the oscars, is the craziest thing I have ever heard.

  • john

You can’t deny the fact of the CGI being amazing, I never said the acting was Oscar-worthy..

  • Adam True

The effects were too obvious. I didn’t thnk they were amazing. They were on par with the overdone effects of the new Star Wars films.

  • john

Which 2/3 were nominated for the best visual effects?

plus, look at the summer blockbusters, the only one that looks totally special effected was ‘Iron Man’…

so my prediction, for the Best Visual Effects Oscar will come down to 10,000 BC and Iron Man

This is one of the greatest verbal sparring matches of our time!!

  • Adam True

    John,

You should def. start leaving some reviews in our forum. We can spare over some other crazy shit.

  • john

Okay, I dropped my review of Rambo off, check it out

  • Roger

Hey, all I know is that I saw the CGI in the ads and I decided right then that this was gonna be a crap movie. Sorry, but if that’s the best a movie can do… stay at home. Kinda like the Hulk. I’m not even gonna see this one.
