In grand “X-Files” manner, the film’s storyline is being kept under wraps. This much can be revealed: It is a stand-alone story in the tradition of some of the show’s most acclaimed and beloved episodes, and takes the complicated relationship between Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in unexpected directions. Mulder continues his unshakable quest for the truth, and Scully, the passionate, ferociously intelligent physician, remains inextricably tied to Mulder’s pursuits.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
Without giving too much away, you know that there is a problem when the film’s most sympathetic character is a pedophile. While I enjoyed the film, I think it’s going to disappoint a lot of the fans.
The god news: the story is original, and unpredictable. The two leads are back and played perfectly (as always). And there are a few (and only a few) tense and thrilling moments. The bad news: much of this film is strictly dulls-ville. The pacing is unusually slow for an X-Files story. The characters go nowhere. We learn nothing new about them and at the end of the film they are exactly the same as they were at the beginning. While the story is unpredictable it’s mostly because the climax is so off the wall.
It was nice to see another X-Files but this will likely be the last. I don’t see this doing well. Casual viewers will be put off by the slowness of the story and by not being familiar with the characters, while fans will be disappointed by the lack of new Mulder/Scully relationship info. All in all, X-Files: I Want To Believe is only mildly entertaining and just bizarre enough to keep the hardcore fans watching.

Batman and James Gordon join forces with Gotham’s new District Attorney, Harvey Dent, to take on a psychotic bank robber known as The Joker, whilst other forces plot against them, and Joker’s crimes grow more and more deadly.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
This is an amazing movie. This is definitely the year of the great comic book movies, and The Dark Knight is right there with the rest. Dark, brutal and surprising, this film is a must see.
It’s the performances that make this film. Christian Bale, once again, is great in his role as the caped crusader. And Gary Oldman does (as always) a nice job reprising his role of Jim Gordon. But it’s Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent and Heath Ledger as The Joker that really make this film surpass the 2005 Batman Begins. Their performances are nothing short of astonishing. Also the film is filled with surprises and tension. And the ending is extremely dark and depressing. I can’t wait for part 3. My only complaint is the run time. While I was never bored, the film is lengthy. The long periods of time between action scenes make it more noticeable.

When the mythical world engages their campaign to take over the Earth, the U.S. government reaches out to the only department staffed to handle the potential catastrophe: The Bureau for Paranormal Research, who once again turns to the demon hero Hellboy and his teammates to stop a merciless dictator from carrying out his plan.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
This movie is fucking awesome! Possibly the best comic book film of the summer and easily the most inventive. Hellboy 2 sticks with the tone of the first film but really amps up the action, effects, and characters.
I think it was the small moments that made me love this movie. Don’t get me wrong the action is great and the effects are awe inspiring (I couldn’t tell what was digital and what wasn’t). But it was the smaller character moments that give the film it’s heart. There is a little more comedy and a lot more romance. The characters really grow in this sequel and become more than just retreads of their same characters from the first film. Everyone’s acting is amazing. Even behind layers of make up the actors expressions shine through. Hellboy 2 is one of summer’s must see action flicks.

TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
Hancock is a disappointment. It could have been great. It has a great concept and great actors. But the film is only mildly entertaining. While watching the film I got a weird sense that I was seeing the edited for tv version.
For starters, Hancock is a mess. It is tonally all over the place. The film starts off nicely as an action comedy, but halfway through it really loses it’s focus and becomes some sort of strange sci-fi drama. And the drama is over almost as soon as it starts. The film only has a measly 92 min. run time. In the last 30 min. the film takes it’s bizarre turn, but doesn’t give the viewer enough time to care or understand exactly what is going on. Too many questions are asked and not nearly enough of them are answered. Also, the film is poorly edited. Choppy and hard to follow, I barely knew or cared what was going on. Hancock was originally rated R, but the powers that be (AKA asshole studio big wigs) wanted the safe PG-13 rating. There may have been a decent cut of this film at one time, but it’s not the one that has been released. Besides the originality of the basic premise and the acting ( which is all around good), there just is not enough to recommend about Hancock that makes it worth seeing. I also feel that I should mention that the film’s chief villain (introduced in the last 20 min.) is among the worst and most poorly conceived bad guys of all time. He is such a shitty criminal that it’s almost comical (even when it’s not supposed to be).

A family is on the run after natural disaster threatens the entire planet.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
Good intentions and an intriguing idea do little to save this god awful eco-thriller. Director M. NIght Shyamalan makes what is easily his worst film to date ( and that’s saying something because The Village was fucking terrible). The acting is bad, the script is bad, and I was bored to tears. I fucking hated this movie so much, I would rather cut my dick off than sit through it again (o.k. maybe I’ve gone a little too far).
Don’t get me wrong, I want to help the environment too, but this is not the way. Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, and John Leguizamo all give absolutely shitty performances. They deliver their lines like they know this movie sucks and they just want to go home. Not that it’s all their fault. With the script they had to work with, there was not too much that they could do. The dialouge is so fucking corny and obvious I could not stop rolling my eyes. The Happening is almost so bad it’s good, but not quite. It’s just so bad, it’s bad.

SON OF RAMBOW is the name of the home movie made by two little boys with a big video camera and even bigger ambitions. Set on a long English summer in the early 80’s, SON OF RAMBOW is a comedy about friendship, faith and the tough business of growing up.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
Son of Rambow is a film for the movie lover or amateur film-maker in all of us. It perfectly captures youthful ambitions, fears, and dreams and helps remind us all what it was like being a kid.
Son of Rambow is a wonderfully fun and funny film. This movie easily put a smile on my face. It does a great job of showing the bond between best friends and how daydreaming can lead to so much more. The two young stars were hilarious and perfect for the roles. The film’s only drawback was it’s occasional slow pace. But watching the two kids film there action/adventure movie was alot of fun and seeing the finished product was heartwarming.

A fateful event serves as the first chapter in a new story for top Jiu-Jitsu instructor Mike Terry. Though he has shied away from the professional side of the medium — opting instead to run his own struggling self-defense studio — circumstances conspire to force him to step into the ring for money for the first time.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
Billed as a martial arts competition film, Redbelt is more of a character driven conspiracy/con drama. Writer/director David Mamet has once again crafted a smart and challenging movie. Redbelt is a different kind of fight flick that should appeal to those with a taste for the offbeat.
Most of Mamet’s typical cast is present and turning out some top notch work. As usual his writing is the highlight. The interplay between the characters is fascinating and his dialouge is as sharp as ever. The acting is great and lead Chewetel Ejiofor plays his stoic martial arts instructor to perfection. The film’s only downfalls are the slow and precise pacing, which may turn off impatient viewers and the somewhat anti climactic ending. Otherwise the film was likable and unpredictable.

No, this story is not about growth hormones. A couple of months ago we ran the trailer for the enjoyable and nostalgically fun looking Son of Rambow. Now if you had any doubts that this film should be awesome, Marion Cobretti is hear to put those to rest. The following is an interview with Stallone from the LA Times:
“When I first heard . . . I assumed it was going to be a very broad and stylized joke-a-minute comedy at Rambo’s expense,” Sylvester Stallone said by e-mail. But he took a look at “Son of Rambow,” the playfully rambunctious tale of two boys in 1980s small-town England, and liked what he saw.
“The fact that it was so heartwarming is the result of brilliant film making by its creators,” Stallone said.
What more do you need? As far as I’m concerned if Ray Tango said it, it’s gospel.

A college professor who moonlights as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI receives a death threat telling him that he has only 88 minutes to live, causing him to scramble to stay alive while he tries to learn his potential assailant’s identity.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
Two words come to mind when thinking of this movie, dog and shit. That’s what this movie is folks dog shit. Horribly filmed, acted, edited, and scripted, with some of the worst ADR work I have ever seen. I was able to figure out the killer’s identity in the first 20 minutes which made sitting through this god awful film a fucking chore.
Al Pacino turns in a truly terrible performance as does the bland and forgettable supporting cast. They spout lines as if they are reading them from off screen cue cards and to make matters worse, most of the time their mouths don’t even match the dialogue. A predictable story and ludicrous plot twists only added fuel to the fire of my hatred for this wretched garbage of a film. Finally, the editor’s attempt at trying to salvage something remotely coherent and watchable was in vein This film was not even close.

When evidence implicates him in the execution of a fellow officer, he is forced to go up against the cop culture he’s been a part of his entire career, ultimately leading him to question the loyalties of everyone around him.
TRUE DUDES REVIEW:
If it weren’t for the Bill and Ted movies or Point Break this would easily be Keanu Reeves best movie. This is another police corruption film from the writer of Training Day and Harsh Times. But while Harsh Times only partially succeded, Street Kings deserves a place next to Training Day as one of the best dirty cop flicks around.
This movie is hardcore! Fast paced and exciting, this film is as quick to violence as its hair trigger tempered main characters. While Reeves performance is as wooden as ever and the supporting actors are mostly cliches, it’s the unpredictability of the script that really makes this film so fucking cool. It’s mostly a who dunnit with some awesome as hell plot twists thrown in for good measure. Street Kings is gritty, violent and definitely recommended.
